CAT 5 SPIRIT SESSION
8/22/08 AND 8/23/08, 9 & 11am; Gusman Hall
Help us welcome the incoming freshman class with the annual Cat 5 spirit session! A critical part of Orientation, our spirit session teaches new UM students about our important cheers and traditions, as well as introducing them to Category 5. We will be holding two separate sessions on both Friday and Saturday during Orientation, so stop by and help out if you can. Contact Justina for details.

CANEFEST

Come on out to CaneFest, the largest student organization fair of the year! Stop by the Category 5 table for free stuff and to sign up for one of the most active groups on campus. We will need help setting up and running our table, so contact Justina for more information or if you want to help.

FOOTBALL PEP RALLY

The first pep rally of the year! Get pumped up for our first home game of the season, as the Canes play Charleston Southern. Come out for fun, excitement, and Chipotle food! We'll also be selling football gameday shirts for just $2! Contact Justina for more information or if you want to help.

TICKET SALE: UF TRIP
8/27/08, 9:30pm; Registrar's Office
Tickets for the annual Cat 5-sponsored football trip go on sale at 9:30pm at the Registrar's Office. Tickets cost $175 and include bus transportation to Gainesville, a two-night hotel stay, one game ticket, and a gameday t-shirt. Tickets will go quickly and are extremely limited, so get in line early! Tickets will be available to full-time undergraduate students only (you must present your Cane Card); we will accept only cash. If you have a preference for hotel roommate, please stand in line together. Contact Justina for more information.

FRESHMAN WALK
8/28/08, 6:15pm; Dolphin Stadium
If you're a freshman, make history by participating in a UM tradition, FRESHMAN WALK. The walk will start at 6:30pm sharp, so all who wish to participate must be at the staging area outside Gate B by 6:15pm at the LATEST. Follow the signs when the buses let you off to direct you. Those participating get a chance to walk around the field at Dolphin Stadium, as well as a free Freshman Walk t-shirt. Cat 5 will need help running the first ever Freshman Walk at Dolphin Stadium, so please contact Justina or the football chairs if you wish to help.

FOOTBALL GAME vs. CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
8/28/08, 7:30pm; Dolphin Stadium
Come root on your Canes as we play our FIRST EVER home game at our new home field, Dolphin Stadium. Transportation will be provided via bus by the university -- the buses will be loading at the BankUnited Center loading dock (across the street from the Wellness Center), and they should start running at 3:15pm. We'll be selling football gameday shirts at the stadium for only $2! Also, if you're a freshman, make history by participating in a UM tradition, FRESHMAN WALK. Cat 5 will need help with the first ever Canes home game at Dolphin Stadium, so contact the football chairs if you wish to help.

Donate $1 and you'll get a whack at a car painted garnet and gold. There'll also be free food from Chipotle and Power Pizza, as well as a step performance, special guest speakers, and Sebastian. Wake up early on a Saturday morning and head over to the BUC to catch Hurricanes Hoopfest. See your first look at the men's and women's basketball teams while watching an open practice, getting autographs from the players, and receiving an exclusive basketball poster. Show your support for the basketball program and come on out to the BUC!

Join Cat 5 and the RAB for the official tailgate and watch party for the UM-Duke game. Watch as YOUR Canes football team travels to Durham, NC, to take on the Blue Devils in a crucial ACC matchup. The game starts at 3:30pm and is on ESPN U, so the only place to watch on campus is at the Rat!

Hit up Cobb Stadium and watch your Canes Women's Soccer team take on Wake Forest in an ACC matchup. Category 5 will be holding a Rowdies Fan Competition to see how rowdy, loud, and spirited you can be! Win awesome prizes and a shirt that states that you are truly one of Miami's Rowdiest!

Come out to the Rock and get pumped up for the basketball rivalry game against FSU that night. There will be appearances from the cheerleaders and Sebastian, as well as free drinks and free Chipotle! So stop by the Rock, get free stuff, and get pumped up for some action against FSU!

MEN'S BASKETBALL vs. Florida State
1/21/09, 7:30pm; BankUnited Center
Head over to the BUC and catch your Miami Hurricanes take on the arch-rival Seminoles of FSU! There will be a Cat 5-sponsored tailgate outside the BUC starting at 5:30, so come out early, grab some free food, and cheer your basketball team on to victory!

This game is also the annual "Safe Sex on the Beach Night." The Health Center will be giving out condoms and info on STDs as well as mock-tails (provided by Pier 21) right outside the student section.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL vs. NC State

Come out to the BUC and watch your women's basketball team take on the Wolfpack of NC State in this crucial ACC game. Cat 5 will be holding a student organization competition. The student org with the most members attending this game will receive $500 IDR as well as 36 seats in the front row of one side of the Haith's Faithful section for the February 4th men's basketball game against Wake Forest.

Catch the men's team in their regular season home finale. It's Senior Day, so come out to the BUC to see the last home games of Brian Asbury, Jimmy Graham, Lance Hurdle, and Jack McClinton. They will be honored before the game, so get there at least half an hour early.

JACK McCLINTON THREE-POINT CHAMPIONSHIP RECOGNITION
4/23/09, 12:30-1:30pm; UC Breezeway
Category 5 is recognizing men’s basketball player Jack McClinton on his achievement of winning the NCAA Three-Point Shooutout Championship. Cat 5 has put a together a poster and we are asking students to sign it with any messages or wishes that they would like to send to Jack. The poster will be in the breezeway on Thursday, April 23, from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, and if you miss it then, you can always head up to the SLC (UC 241) and sign it there!

MURIELLE AHOURE CHAMPIONSHIP CEREMONY
4/29/09, 12:15pm; UC Lower Lounge

Join Category 5 on Wednesday the 29th as we recognize UM track star Murielle Ahoure for winning the 200-Meter Dash National Title this past month at the NCAA Indoor Track Championship in Texas. Murielle recorded a time of 22.80 seconds, which is the world's fastest time this season. Cat 5 will be hosting a ceremony to congratulate her, so make sure to come out and join us in the UC Lower Lounge. There will be free food and music, as well as appearances by Sebastian and the cheerleaders.

BASEBALL "DOUBLE TROUBLE" PROMOTION
Ongoing; Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field
At every home baseball game for the remainder of the school year, come on out to the Light and take part in Cat 5's "Double Trouble" promotion! If you're a student, sign up in the concourse area behind the grandstand; Cat 5 members will be there 45 minutes before every game up until the middle of the 3rd inning. You must show your Cane Card to be entered into the drawing.

At the beginning of the 6th inning, a name will be drawn and announced to the crowd. If the Canes are able to successfully turn a double play in the top of the inning, OR if a Cane hits a double in the bottom of the 6th, that lucky student will win a $25 gift card to the Rat. If BOTH happen in the 6th inning, then that lucky student will win a $50 gift card to the Rat AND will be chauffeured around campus to and from classes one day in the Cat 5 Hummer!
